I took the DAT last cycle and my breakdown is:

Bio:17
QR:17
PAT:17
GC:20
Orgo:19
TS:18
AA:19

GPA is 3.7. Do I have a chance or should I go ahead and retake the test especially since the Bio and PAT is low.

Thanks

hm..i would.

but the thing is, i feel like if you get a 19 AA and 19TS and maybe get your PAT up 1 more point you'll be fine.

so in other words, i'd say retake, but you don't have to aim for like a 21+. that gpa is great, you should be proud

my dat scores and gpa are similar like yours. i didnt apply until late nov last year and still managed to get interviews from two schools. i'm on wait list right now 🙁 but several dental counselors recommended me to retake the dat n improve my score. i guess u can still apply w these scores. but you should definitely consider retaking. w a gpa as hi as your i'm sure you can pull your scores up by a couple of points

You do have chance but your PAT and BIO are low. What was your RC, a 22? Its a tough call, but I would probably retake. Remember it easy for everyone on the internet to say you need a retake, when in reality a lot of time/ work goes into prepping for the DAT.

What ever you do good luck this cycle

RC was 20

Thanks evreyone for all your help. Right now I am leaning towards postponing the test and applying with the same score cause it scares me what if I get a lower score. Although I feel I might do better on some sections but from a 19 to a 20 it is a matter of 2-3 questions and luck. Really confused now.

Hi,

Sorry to hear that you didnt make it last year but it maybe because you applied late. I know people who have gotten in with similar or lower scores. Taking it again is a big risk but then you might or might not improve the scores. Are you planning to retake the DAT.

retaking is a big risk. i'm postponing my retake as well after talking to some adcom members

my scores jumped all over the place the second time i took it, but i managed to do 1 point better on my AA and TS. not sure if i wanna make that gamble again.

if you're competitive enough, schools may contact you and request a retake. thats what im hoping for if anything

Gluck for your test. I am opting out and think will take it later if I dont hear from any of the schools till september. But does anyone know how to cancel the test date since I have submitted my application already and mentioned I am retaking it with the test date. I just want them to use my old scores. Any advice on how to go about it,should I email them but then how do I cancel my appointment so that I can save the fees if needed to take the test later.

thanks rocky90...i do need a lot of luck. hey i see you made a 20 on your RC. can you give me some tips on that section. i'm not doing so hot in RC...kinda hate it. i'm using the search and destroy method but its really not working for me.

I think I am usually good with reading and dont have much problems except the time issue. I generally read and understand the passage and make a few points about them. Then I go ahead the questions and answer as much as possible. If I dont remember I go back to my notes to see where is what and back to the passage. When are you planning to take the DAT? I am still confused as to what I should do.

i think you should apply with the score you've and maybe call the schools you are interested in applying and whatever they say proceed from there abut retakin the dat. i'm thinkin about taking it sometime in july
