Just needed some advice on my DAT scores--I just didn't do as well as I wanted, but i feel like im right on the border of too low/average. Here are my scores: 19 PAT, 20 Bio, 18 QR, 19 GC, 18 OC (these chem scores make me so angry), 20 RC, 19 AA, 19TS. Do you guys think I need to retake? I mean I know my chances at UPenn, and probably Mich, Maryland are shot but I am still hoping my scores could qualify me for temple, tufts, BU, NYU, UMKC and some other schools, but I don't really have a lot of confidence in my DAT scores. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Had everything besides DAT and one letter of recommendation submitted on 7/6/2012. I was taking O-chem 2 over the summer which is why i waited so long to take the DAT

I personally wouldn't retake. I think your GPA is good, and your DAT is on par with the average score of those admitted into dental school. I would just apply broadly.

Ok thanks for the encouragement. Hope you guys don't mind if I get some input on my list as well. I have lived in Kansas for 2.5 years ( Utah for 22 years of my life though).

Here's the list:

Umkc, Temple, NYU, Penn, Mich, Maryland, Tufts, BU, Colorado, Louisville, UoP, UCSF, And San Antonio (family, I know I don't reall stand a chance)

I have been wondering if I should apply to Roseman and Loma Linda- I'm a religious person and I hear that both are great schools. I am kind of hoping to get out of Kansas, it's not really my style. Any suggestions on schools I should add given my lower DAT score?

No freakin way I would retake with those scores and GPA.

I visited U Maryland and the tour guide (4th year dental student) was from out of state, had average DAT scores, like around 19-20, and a GPA of 3.5 when he applied. He also got in to several other schools no problem... So I think your fine!

Awesome! Thank you very much.

Science GPA: 3.58 Overall: 3.57-- upward trend of 3.94 in the last two years. Do you think i still have a chance at UoP, Maryland, or Mich?

UOP = really really really difficult. I won't say completely no, but based on what these boards have said, Pacific loves DAT crushers and while 19AA is good, I wouldn't say you killed it.

According to OracleDMD (see thread). This interpretation seems reasonable.
17- you can apply
18- not bad
19- avg acceptance score...thats good
20- an attention getter
21-23- you killed it
+24- pick your school to interview at

I think you still have a good shot a Michigan with those stats. I have no idea about the UOP and Maryland.

Ok, I think UOP and UCSF might be reaches but the rest are still valid options. Can't wait to start getting interviews. Might help me that my uncle and father in law went to UOP, but I doubt it.
