My post in the retake thread still hasn't been replied to, and I'm kind of going crazy trying to decide...

-3.5 cGPA 3.4 sGPA from top 20, grade deflation if that helps. Upward trend(3.2 fresh, 3.8 soph)
-Going to work my tail off this year and if all goes well I can have a 3.7/3.6 c/s by time I apply next year
- 30S, 11/9/10
-Above average ECs(leadership + plenty of volunteer orgs + studying abroad this semester at a well-known uni) I believe, research/shadowing/clinical (1.5 yr of research, good amount of shadowing/hospital volunteering)
- OK resident, I was told by director at the SOM that my stats are slightly below average(but maybe they will consider my institution?), but pulling up my cGPA will put me above average

I scored 32-33s consistently and got 35/34 on AAMC 10 and 11. I had a bad test day with BS/VR sections that were just difficult for me. I know I can do better with a retake, but problem is would a 2-3 point increase be worth it? I know statistically I would be increasing my chances of getting into an allopathic significantly but I have exhausted most resources(all TBR, EK Bio, TPRH Verbal, EK101, AAMC3-11(including the extra passages from pdf exams)). I suppose if I were to retake I could use GS?

Honestly I would be happy with an allopathic school(especially OU SOM) because I know as long as you work hard med school is pretty much the same(I know there will be those who strongly disagree).

Should I retake? Please give me your opinions and thoughts. I feel like my stats are competitive for lower to middle tier schools assuming I can pull up my GPA and I am fine with that. That 9 in verbal bugs me as well, and I managed to score highest on the least important section.

At this point your cGPA and sGPA are a lot more important than your MCAT score. Trust me with a 30 and a 3.7 cGPA you will get accepted as long as your ECs are strong and you're not socially awkward. I would suggest you let your MCAT be and focus a lot more on your GPA. Good luck!

My friend from Rice told me what you said almost verbatim hahaha. I think I've got the social awkwardness part okay. Thanks for the advice man.

With a 3.5+ and 30, you will certainly have options.. assuming the rest of your app is solid. I probably wouldn't in your case, but I am retaking a 30 since my GPA is about 3.4ish and my EC's aren't that great
