I need to retake Calculus since I made a "D" in the course. However, I'm planning on applying for pharmacy school this year. The problem is that I won't be able to retake the class until the upcoming spring semester due to my fall course load. Would this hurt my chances significantly, since the application process takes place in the fall semester? Thanks!

Here are my current stats:
pre-pharmacy gpa (includes the D in my calculus course) - 3.1
overall gpa: 3.6
I will be getting my biology degree in Dec.

You're retaking calculus I in the spring semester 2013. You're applying for fall 2013 (this is when you'll start if you get accepted).

To answer your question, it may or may not hurt. Pharmacy schools usually look at your overall GPA, not just your pre-reqs. If you're accepted then you'll just have to retake calculus with a grade (C-) or higher because NO *school* accept will Ds, even undergraduate.

You will probably have to aim higher than a c-. Most schools do not accept c- and plus pharmcas averages your grades I think.

To answer your question, you can take it in spring, they will just want to see your grade after.

I would retake the class and aim higher. Because Calculus is a rough course.

I'm in the same problem with General Biology. I got an F in it Freshmen year and need to retake it over. 🙄
