I'm in the process of retaking a few courses, including a semester of introductory biology. My university recently overhauled its introductory biology curriculum, and the general course no longer exists. There is a new course with a different title and number which covers so much of the material that you can't receive credit for taking both.

I understand that AACOMAS calculates only final retakes into your GPA, but how similar do the courses have to be for them to accept them as retakes?

This happened to me also. In the AACOMAS system, I assigned a code to the original course and then another code to specify the retake. AACOMAS reviewed my application and approved my classification. In my case, the title and course description also changed. You may want to send AACOMAS an email though to make sure that your retake will be approved.

So, if the course number changes, but the course name doesn't, does it count as a retake? I am retaking histology, I took it originally as quarters and now in semesters they changed the course number... also, I am retaking genetics through a different school, but it's still genetics... any thoughts on those?
