hi again, I may be thinking too far ahead since I might end up in a post-bacc undergrad science classes program/do it yourself post-bacc, but I was wondering if its possible to begin the summer before my senior year at another university. I was hoping to go back to a state university and retake 2 chem classes while taking 2 new bio classes for the summer of 2005. Since I've already exceeded the amount of units I can transfer from another university to my actual university, I know it won't count towards graduation, but could it count towards my overall science gpa that medical schools look at? I wasn't sure if this was possible or recommended. Thanks!

I think AMCAS will count those grades towards your GPA, even if it isn't applied to your undergrad degree. However, it might look suspect that you are taking these classes at an institution other than where you get your degree because your not technically a "post-bacc" yet. If you have circumstances that won't allow you to take these classes at the college you are currently matriculated at, it should be okay.

Even if you take classes at another institution other than the one you're attending now and the credit won't transfer to your university, those classes will apply to both the AMCAS and AACOMAS applications. AMCAS averages retakes and AACOMAS uses only your most recent grade if you retake. So yes, medical schools will see these grades even if it doesn't show up on your university's transcript.

But if I read your post correctly, you're taking FOUR classes in one summer? That's gotta be what...16 credits? That's doable, but that could be tough.

thanks for the replies. it's a relief getting some good info that I couldn't get otherwise since my department's counselor has yet to be replaced. At CSUN, they offer 2 different sessions, so I would be taking 2 classes for 1 month and another 2 the following month. All 4 at the same time would kill me =P Thanks again for the info.
