How do you go about doing this? I have a couple C's from freshman year I would eventually like to get rid of. I asked my advisor and she gave me a weird look and said she didnt think I could do it. I should be able to right? I mean I assume the university wants my money?

1. What were the classes? If they were pre-reqs I would say retake them but make sure you get an "A" in each. If they are not pre-reqs or at least not science courses, don't spend the time.

2. Not sure if you're thinking MD or DO, but remember that DO schools replace original with retakes and MD schools average the two.

Good luck and FWIW, I retook some classes and my GPA jumped from a 2.5 to a 3.8 (this is for DO programs).

I'm assuming you're asking how to go about retaking them at your undergrad and not so much about how to report them on an application?

It's going to vary depending on the university/college but it could be as easy as just signing up for that class again when you register. If it won't just let you register that way you may have to go to that specific department, meet with an advisor who can then sign you up for that class.

I retook one or two classes and it had been several years since I originally took them and since then the course numbers and some other features changed so I had to the department to get permission to retake a similar course.

This is what I was looking for. It was a couple classes I did poorly on Freshman year that I know I could have done better on. One was a Chemistry (not gen chem), but it is a science class none the less, so I would like to retake it and up my science GPA a bit.
