I'm not sure if anyone has asked this so I decided to post.

I have a few courses that I needed to repeat. I got C's on them the first time and wanted to retake. My question is a little hard to explain so please bear with me.

I first took the courses at a 4-yr university where they use the Quarterly system. So the courses are listed as 4 credits each. Because I am in a pinch right now and don't really have money to retake them in the same university (and also I live so far now because my family moved), I was thinking of retaking them at a CC instead. But the CC's around us offer Semester courses where each course are 5 credits. I guess my question is, how does this work if I hope to have the CC-retake courses to replace the old ones in my aacomas app?

Example:
Univ - Bio 5A, 5B, 5C = 12 units
CC - Bio 11, 12 = 10 units

The CC courses are "the same" in that they are transferrable as the Univ series. I'm just confused, how does this work??? 😕

I believe that as long as the retake has an equal or greater number of credits, then it will replace the grade.

so they have to have the same number of units? let's see... the 12 Quarter units are equivalent to 8.1 semester units. so that counts right?

Honestly, that's a bit of a complex question. The only way you'll get an accurate response is by either contacting AACOMAS asking the same thing, or from someone here who had the same issue. Look through AACOMAS' coursework instructions and see if that might have an answer.

In the same context of the subject of re-taking courses and then applying to DO schools. If I'm in my last year of undergrad, would it be better to defer graduation and repeat courses or would it be the same if I graduate first and take a post-baccalaureate year and retake courses? Thank you

I asked about this earlier too, I was told that as long as the number of semester units of the retake class is greater or equal to the original class it should be fine. It's annoying though with the conversion.

I also had another question about retakes, I took molecular bio and cell bio, I got a c in molecular and a d in cell, I wanted to retake cell at my CC right now however, the only class I can see equivalent to it is called "Molecular/Cell Biology" would Aacomas count this as a retake for cell bio???

Honestly, I wish I had deferred graduation. I graduated last year and couldn't get into ANY of the classes because they were so full. I think if you're still a student you can probably register without too much trouble. Oh and extension class = $$$. You also won't have to deal with re-enrolling and all that jazz, just my opinion.
