Hello,

So I took Orgo 1 and 2 in my sophomore year in college and now I'm a senior.
I got C- and D+ respectively in Orgo I and II first time taking it.
I retook Orgo 1 and got a B and am retaking Orgo 2 right now and so far I have taken 2 midterms and am not doing well. I calculated my expected grade and if I'm lucky, I will probably get a C or C+. Not possible to get in a B range unless I get a 100% on at least one of the test.

Should I keep doing the retake..? the drop deadline is tomorrow and I'm not sure if my decision is right. I'm definitely trying harder and have more organic chemistry knowledge than first time I took it.

I will be applying in June and really want to go somewhere like NYU, Tufts, Touro, UIC, etc. They all only require one semester of organic chemistry along with a lab (I got a A- in orgo lab).
But there are also plenty of other schools that require 8 semesters (2 courses) of organic chem.

What should I do?

Do you know what you're doing wrong in the class? Is it the class/prof, is it your study habits, or is it personal reasons?

Well. Yeah. I know what I’m doing wrong. I did all the problems and practice exams provided but did not fully understand what was going on. Also, the main problem is the grading structure of the class.. the questions I get wrong are multiple choice problems that worth 3% of the whole grade per question... and there are 4-5 questions offered per test. So if I get one or two wrong, then the grade just drops and I have been getting almost all those multiple qs wrong.

You should of solved this problem after your first exam. You're definitely in a pickle. What do you need to make inorder to make a C or a C+?

I would have to do everything provided and understand everything. Basically really focus on orgo 2 if I decide to just take it. I know I did stuff wrong. But not sure if it’s worth retaking it and get a C range grade in it. Wouldn’t it be better to just have the D+ and just show dental schools how bad I’m at orgo..idk.

Have some confidence gurl. Retake the class and make that A+, show adcom that you can bounce back. A "D+" looks bad imo. I mean you need to learn ochem for the DAT anyways.

Purchase organic chemistry as a second language (second semester) by David Klein. You’ll understand everything about o chem.

I know. I got 20 on Ochem on DAT. It's just the class structure that is so hard for me 🙁 should have taken it at another college or something. I guess C range would be better than a D+, right? I will try my best ..
