Retaking prereqs

How do dental schools look at retaking prereqs to get a better score? Do they count the most recent one? A better score? Or both? Thanks.

retake class and take upper level if u have time. if you do not have time, take more upper level classes

Both are counted in AADSAS, and averaged. What were the original grades? Lower than a C, you must retake for dschools to count them. If we're talking B's, then do not retake. Adcoms know you're trying to boost the gpa. It's also a waste of money in that instance. Instead, take upper division science courses in the same vein of study to show mastery of material.

I have a C in one of lower division bio classes and a C+ in General Chem.My organic chem classes were both A's, biochem was also an A and I also did 2 years of chemistry research at my institution at went to two ACS National Meetings and presented my research work..I am guessing that retaking general chem 2 wouldn't be a good idea with other chemistry background. Another C that I got was in a lower division bio and all other bios were B+'s/A's. I am planning to take a post-bacch class (in the Summer) which is called Bio III and teaches basic anatomy/physio with lab and taxonomy which I think can be helpful for DAT as well. My science gpa as of now is a bit higher than 3.4 and I was thinking of applying sometime in August after I take DAT which I am studying for right now. I was hoping to submit my application then and let the schools know about other coursework I will be taking in the Fall '13 and Spring'14. Would that be possible?

P.S The only reason I want to take classes starting this summer is to boost a gpa just in case I don't get in this cycle and can apply next cycle instead of waiting and not taking classes and having to take them next year.

Apply first, no later than July. Take the DAT no later than August. You will have the opportunity to show them your in-progress and planned coursework during the academic update period for AADSAS.

Do not hold up your application because of your DAT score. It takes AADSAS at least a month to verify your grades, during which time you can continue preparing for the DAT.

Thanks a lot for your input. Also, how much does applying to one school cost? I am planning to apply to various schools but I am just wondering what the average spending will be for let's say 10 schools?
