I've searched around for a while and wasn't able to find an exact answer to this question.

I took science classes at a quarter system school (i.e. Chem 2A, 2B, 2C) and would like to retake these classes. If I take them at a semester school after I graduate (i.e. Chem 2A, 2B) will only 2 out of the 3 classes I took be replaced, or will all 3 be replaced since they are both equivalent to a year? Course units of the semester classes would be of greater units, and they would both be considered "a year of chemistry".

I understand that the semester hours count as .667 of the quarter hours, but how would the repeated courses be recognized by AACOMAS in terms of replacing each first-time course individually?

Thanks

I'd ask AACOMAS. They adhere to their replacement guidelines with very little leeway, and going from quarters to semesters is dicey. I tried to do a replacement for a Math class I failed at a CC (5 quarter hours/3.3 semester hours) with a similar course (3 semester hours). Denied.

I think it's because the class you took to replace your CC class with was .3 semester hours less than the original CC class you took. I asked AACOMAS about they're grade replacement policy and one requirement was that the new class must be of equal or greater credit hours than the original. However, they didn't specify my original question.

I tried giving em a call today but they're office was closed so I have to wait til Monday. Anybody have any ideas in the meantime?

Yeah, super strict lol. Figured they'd give me a pass because they're basically the same damn class ("Pre-Calc I" vs "College Algebra", which my undergrad would've let me transfer in... had I not shirked my responsibilities that summer and bailed on the class).

I seem to remember a thread from last year specifically by TriagePremed that said that AACOMAS won't do semester -> quarter grade replacement and vice versaa and it was based on his own research and contacting AACOMAS, however it didn't affect me so I didn't follow the thread to see if exceptions were made for anything.

Woozy, from personal experience, went from quarter to semester retake, (UC Davis, with the 2 series chem) and was only able to replace 2 of the 3 classes with semester retakes) I retook 2A at my UC and replaced 2B with the first semester and 2C with the second semester. Hope that helps
