Hey everyone,
To make my story short... I had to repeat my 2nd year of medical school this year due to some academic complications and for not passing Step 1. I took it last summer in 2010 and got a 185 with passing being a 188. I have decided to wait an entire year to study again for Step 1.

I'm taking in on June 20 and have been doing Uworld since Xmas 2010. My average right now sits at 45% with only 650 Q;s done. I think the reason for this low average is because my mind has gotten lazy this year and has not pushed itself to try to remember every little detail like I did when I went through MS2 year the first time.

I have done a lot better this year ( 15% higher scores on all my tests) but I just get bogged down by these low averages on Uworld. I know what the topics are that they are asking questions about, but I just can't seem to remember the minute details.

If anyone has any advice/ pep talks / strategies I could use to get my mind back into a critical thinking mode like it was last summer, I would be forever grateful. 🙂

I wish you the best. 🙂

Just try hard to "connect dots" while studying, and don't forget the importance of FA. Also, I personally think it's important not to overwhelm yourself with resources.

If you got a 185 last time, I'm certain you can probably get a passing score this time around having heard all of the MS2 material again.

When do you take your exam?
I think you should stop trying to use Uworld as an assessment tool and use it as a learning tool, I try to use FA as a workbook and Uworld as a teaching course and put them together to make the connections.

Just go back and forth between UWorld and FA. Keep making those connections. You have plenty of time till you take the test. Even if you say you are forgetting a lot of the details, you can definitely learn what you need to by test time. Just don't give up or get discouraged. Keep working at it, and you will see results.
