Hi, I am retaking the DAT and was wondering what I could use to improve my bio score? The last time i took the DAT, I studied the destroyer, KBB, and Cliffs AP Bio. I got a 19 on the bio section. I didn't do well in my pre-reqs, so I need the DATs to help me make up for it. :scared:... what should I use to improve my score? Thanks.

Thinkwell's Biology video series is really good and has almost all of the topics you need to know for the DAT.

I'd recommend getting a copy of Campbell's though to fill in gaps in knowledge you have.

you retake you DAT just because you got 19 in Bio? How about your AA and TS?

Hi Wizi,
TS: 19
AA: 18

Bio: 19
Ochem:18 (ran out of time on this one)
Gchem:21
RC:19
PAT: 18
QR:14

Im retaking the DAT because my undergrad GPA is low. I will be finishing my masters in the end of July.

Also, thanks for the suggestions froggbuster.

Hey Smilemaker12, i have the same stats as you do (low GPA). I have one question though. As I was applying to masters programs at diff schools they told me i needed to take my DAT first before i even apply. Where did you apply for your masters? and how long did it take you? Thanx.

I had to take the DAT to get into the Barry's masters program. There's the 1 year, 18 month, and 2 year. I am in the 18 month. Good luck!

All is used was Barron's AP Bio. It's short and to the point. If you know it like the back of your hand, I honestly don't see why you wouldn't at least make 20. Got me a 22 (96%).

Maybe your 22 score had something to do with your 4.0 that you so proudly advertise in your signature. If I had a 4.0 instead of a 3.98 (no joke), I guess I would let everyone know too.

Perhaps you naturally know more biology than most who open a Barron's AP Bio book for the first time.

Even with my 3.98, I'm not taking anything for granted and am using as many bio resources as possible.

+1

I would advertise too if I was from top 20 college with 4.0 but I highly doubt MUSCDMD is from any top tier college

You might also want to try Schaum's Biology Outlines? I know people have recommended it on this forum and I used it in my study and found it to be extremely helpful. I used that along with ExamKrackers 2003 addition and I think it was more than sufficient in covering each topic. I never used the Cliffs so I'm not sure how that might be similar/different but I think the Schaum's and ExamKrackers might be worth a look if you have time.

Where can I get the Thinkwell's Biology video series? I went online but there were a few websites to choose from.
