Retaking the MCAT and application date

Dear all, i hope this topic hasn't been talked about because i tried to google for it and could not find a topic discussing this.

I am retaking the MCAT june 17th, and will probably get my scores around a month later in mid july. Is it equivalent to apply then (mid july) as if I were to apply tomorrow, June 1, since my second mcat score it not out anyway and schools cannot do a full evaluation of me?

after a bit more searching, i did find this:

Regardless of the box that you check, many schools will send you their secondaries as soon as your AMCAS app is verified. However if you check that you are retaking the MCAT, then these schools will not review your app or send you interview invites until the second set of scores come in (regardless of the score on the first exam).

i know the amcas does take some time to process so i should probably submit the application several weeks before my second scores come out, correct?

By mid July, it will probably take about a month to verifiy your transcripts, so submit with enough time that verification will be complete by the day your score is released.

It's fine to initially submit to just one or a few schools, just to get the verification process completed. OOnce you know your score, you can add additional schools depending on how competitive you are. The new schools will get the entire application within a day.

To save further time while you're waiting for verification and score release, you can start working on Secondary essays. You'll find the prompts here on SDN. With that done, your turn around time to complete your application will be a few days once you're formally invited to complete a Secondary.

my transcripts were already recieved by AMCAS, although i'm assuming what you're talking about is the schools need to verify my transcript as well?

AMCAS has to verify that the transcript data you've entered into the Primary application matches all of your official transcripts, then they recalculate your application GPAs according to their own rules.

Look at the very top of the Pre-Med Allo Forum and you'll see School Specific threads for this year and last year. Last year's prompts are in the first post of last year's (2009-2010) School Specific threads. This year's will not be posted until Secondaries have been sent out from each school. Only about 5% of the prompts change from year to year, so they are worth looking at now.
