131. Retention time in GC is MOST affected by the:

A. solubility of the compound in the carrier gas.
B. volatility of the compound.
C. chirality of the compound.
D. affinity of the compound for the column's packing material.

How does any chromatography work? What results in different compounds of a mixture being eluted at different times?

The sample has to be volatile in order for it to be used in GC. That doesn't help differentiate between different compounds of the sample though.
