Retook a class in biology.. how is that going to affect me?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You already asked about this in your other thread and you said your gpa is 3.9. Not too sure what you are looking for people to say...

So I retook Biology I because I got a C+ and I managed to get a A the second time around.

How are dental schools going to look at this as?

its hopeless for you.... time to switch career paths.

Just kidding. Dental schools don't judge students based on 1 or a couple of bad courses, they like to look at overall numbers, if you got the right GPA along with sGPA, then thats all that matters.

LoL DentalWorks ^^^^
I think this is the first time I read a sarcastic comment from you !

Seriously though, patel###, there are people who have failed bio/chem the first time around, retook them, did great in all of their upper level courses and still got accepted to DS.
Stay focused!

I heard garbage men are looking for more people. I also heard that their pay is getting increased. You might want to start applying.

I hear that it appears as a C+ and a A, as if they were separate courses. They will see both scores, and the "GPA's" from both will be tallied into your final GPA that the schools look at.

I think your chances of getting into any dental schools is extremely low. You need to stop wasting your time shadowing/volunteering at dental offices, if you're doing it right now.

How does this differ from you "getting a 2.7 in math" during your first quarter as stated in one of your earlier posts? Oh I know, this person retook it and got an A. Don't be so condescending please.

I think dentalWorks and study girl have got it right.

My opinion beyond that is that a retake with a better grade can only be a good thing, it shows perseverance and obviously that you are serious about your academics; the higher grade shows capability. Now you just gotta keep it up! 😉

Schools can see both your re-take grade and original grade. So, be prepared to explain a failing grade during an interview. I have heard that re-takes are pointless (because they saw you failed the first time), although if you really want to master something/perservere then do it by all means.

He got a C+, not a failing grade. And he already retook the class. If it matters.
