Retrospective chart review

During the summer, one of the projects I completed was a retrospective chart review that looked at the records of 100s of patients taking a particular drug. This involved writing an IRB application and requesting over 1000 electronic records, and I've finished doing the analysis and got some results.

I am wondering if this would be enough for some kind of publication in a clinical journal. Also, what kinds of journals publish retrospective chart reviews? This would probably be in the field of hematology. Thanks.

Most journals will publish retrospective chart reviews. I can't help as far as hematology is concerned, but someone from the department should have a good idea as far as what journal would be good to aim for.

The bolded part is a requirement of any human trial, and in of itself does not merit an article (though it's definitely very important and a good thing to include on your CV). The results, depending on how exciting they are (only determined by the journal's editor) are what's important.

How does one obtain IRB approval in a private clinical setting?
