Hey all!

So I've gotten a secondary and tomorrow will mark one week since I first received it. I submit my AMCAS primary app a while back but have yet to hear from them, and I know it's considered taboo to wait beyond a week to return secondaries.

My question is how am I supposed to work around this, since LORS are required for secondaries, and they can't see my LOR till my primary app is verified? 😕 😕 😕

LORs aren't required for secondaries.

But they won't look at your application until you have your AMCAS primary verified, your secondary in and your LORs in.

Just submit your secondary.

It's not taboo to take over a week to return secondaries. Case in point: NickNaylor took about a month to return his Pritzker secondary. He's currently there on a full scholarship.

The earlier you get your secondary in (after your primary gets verified), the earlier you'll get an interview invite. There's no point in submitting your secondary before you get verified.

No point to submitting it early but also really no point in hanging on to it. May as well just submit now IMO.

There's no hard and fast deadline. What the secondary is part of is, as Jepstein said, a piece of your file. They won't look at you until absolutely everything they require is in (usually MCAT, verified primary, secondary, secondary payment and LORs). That's when you will be considered "complete" and ready to be evaluated for interview consideration.

The pieces can all arrive whenever. Just use common sense - if interview consideration is rolling and people are submitting stuff every day, it would be in your interest to not linger on a secondary of a school you're interested in.
