I dropped out my undergrad as a chemical engineering major at a good school as junior year around the time of covid, left a series of withdrawals on my transcript. I was not doing well mentally and I didn't really do anything for the next two years. I recently got my associates from a community college and started studying psychology at a smaller 4-year school closer to my home. I was aiming to become a mental health counselor but my classes (some biology classes and psychopathology) really got me thinking about going to medical school.
Is it realistic to even consider medical school with my situation? I am doing well now and my academics are stable, and because of my chemical engineering undergrad I only need to take biochem to satisfy pre-reqs. I want to put in my time to gain experience and clinical hours, but I'm worried that my history would jeopardize my chances in such a competitive field and I should look into pursuing other careers.
