I will be taking a gap year and have extensive research experience. Are there any programs (like those summer REUs) that one can apply for that provide stipend, etc.

If you have a degree and research experience, couldn't you just apply for a research position in a lab? No need for a program aimed to undergrad students (hence the U in REU). I'm in the same boat as you, so this is my plan. Go to a job search site and see what kind of positions your local research institutes have.

If anyone else knows this to be a poor path, I'd like to know bc it's what I plan to do my gap year!
