Reuse Personal Statement

I am asking this for a friend. She applied to dental schools last year and after working at an optometry clinic for a while, she realized that she enjoyed optometry more. She's in the process of applying to optometry schools this year and is working on her PS. However, would it be okay for her to use the bulk/structure of her dental PS for optometry school? Would it get flagged for plagiarism? If so, would it hurt her even though it's her previous work? Thank you!

In my opinion one’s personal statement should answer Why dentistry, medicine, optometry, etc. Using the majority of a dental PS for optometry school may not show her desire for optometry. She should also consider the success of her dental PS, did she get any interviews/acceptances? Maybe her personal statement was an issue.
