is it ok to recycle essays that you used for the last application series (specifically for secondaries)? i do not plan on using the exact same essays, but writing completely new ones with the same content seem like a waste.

i plan on using my old essays and editing them wherever i see fit. does this sound ok, or should i invest more time in making new ones?

Your thoughts are generally correct. Take a look in the Tips sticky thread for help by clicking on the link in my signature. You'll see there's a post about reusing essays.

I have talked with the schools where I am re-applying. At Wayne State, the admissions officer said I could use the older essays if I wanted. At Toledo, they told me to use my old essay. At Rosalind Franklin, they said to try to integrate mostly new stuff. I just talked again with Wayne State, and they re-confirmed that I could use the same essays if I wanted to... so basically it depends on the school I guess. If you call/email, they'll probably tell you their opinions.
