Hi everyone. Starting my ns rotation in a couple of weeks and I'm looking for a small review handbook, something for quick reference that I can keep in my white coat/scrub pocket. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Greenberg's Handbook of Neurosurgery is the standard but it is kind of bulky for a handbook. Some people cut the binding to make a couple of smaller volumes that are more manageable. The previous version was in two volumes.

The MGH Handbook of Neurology is a nice small book and has good general neuro information although the neurosurgery residents may make fun of you carrying a neurology book.

Greenberg's Handbook of Neurosurgery. Small enough to fit in your white coat, but not very thin. Its pretty portable, and will work. Good resource for neurosurg.

Greenberg is a definite must for any neurosurgery rotation. The new 6th edition of Greenberg is MUCH thinner than the 5th edition and has many recent updates. Practically everything you'll need to know (get pimped on) will be in there.

greenberg went with me on my away rotations in neurosurg and was clutch. Highly recommend it 😎
