What exactly does it mean if the receptionist says, "The system shows that your application was reviewed but no decision has been made yet?" There aren't any scores waiting for arrival, and I haven't received an interview invite yet...

Is that a polite way of saying "you're rejected but I don't have the heart to tell you over the phone?" Or does it mean, "there actually has been a decision made but I'm not allowed to say?"....

I believe that this means that they have looked at your file, but they passed it up on the first round. They will look it over at a later date. Good luck!

it means they looked at your application and didn't make a decision.

seriously, it means that you were looked at and probably passed over for the current round of interviews, but not necessarily rejected so you could still be looked at in subsequent rounds. if you were rejected, they probably wouldn't tell you on the phone, but they would say that a letter was being sent or something. if they said there was no decision, there was no decision.

I was told the same at my state school and then i was accepted the next week. it means either they pass you up for the next round or they have not input the decision in their computers (if they do it that way). they have not made the decision yet so dont worry.

I think the OP is talking about pre-interview limbo/hold.

Nope, spilling coffee is followed by hold 'cause nobody wants to touch the damn thing and is followed by a rejection.

A similar thing happened to me. I was complete at a school on 9/2 and I called about two weeks ago. They said the committe is still looking at my application and have not made a decision yet. I finally got an invite a few days ago. Hang in there and don't try to interpret everything. Sometimes it just takes a longer time for a decision.
