I dont really feel like writing another PS - I feel like mine from the 07 cycle was pretty good..granted I didnt get in anywhere but I think it was reasons other than the PS.

My question basically is: do schools look down on people that dont improve upon or change their PS?

It should show some type of progression or confirmation for your desire to study medicine. Cutting and pasting can't be a good thing. I plan on applying to the same school i applied to last time in addition to others this time and i will change my PS for the AMCAS and secondary. Only makes sense, IMO.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. I've talked to a director of admissions and he said you don't need to change the ENTIRE thing, just parts of it. If you had some good patient story in there, keep it. 😀 However, it is important to indicate your ongoing passion for medicine...They know you are a second time applicant, so hopefully you have some new experiences that reaffirm your desire to be a physician, too.

The director of admissions also told me that they obviously don't go back and read your old personal statement, so if you kept it the same, no one would ever know. Still, I think it's a good idea to throw some fresh stuff in there. Personally, I kept some of mine the same...But my hospice patient died a few months ago so I talked about my time with him since I'd known him for 2 years.

Good luck!

What if you were rejected pre-secondary the first time which means they screened you out based on ur stats and probably did not get to the PS.
The only thing that has changed between now and then is a better MCAT score and a masters degree completion.

i removed the last 2 paragraphs of my old personal statement (about 1/4 the entire thing) and rewrote the entire section.

everything else is the same. because it was effing good lol
