My group is looking to purchase a new RFA system. Currently have a old Stryker machine, not compatible with the venom stuff. It is end of life.

Have 3 quotes from neurotherm (Abbott), Stryker (would get the venom compatible system), or the new Medtronic accurian system which can do normal RF and has the possibility of addition of cooled rfa adapter.

Any opinions on what to go with? Stryker system is considerably more cost wise. Thanks in advance.

I was thinking about this myself a little while ago.

The Halyard/Avanos one can also do conventional or cooled I believe.
The Medtronic one looks the prettiest and can do the highest number of probes at one time I think.

It's really just a question of which one is the cheapest for your ecosystem and practice parameters in terms of the RF generator, consumables, usage patterns, etc

Also get a quite from Cosman - that’s what we went with recently.

How much did Cosman quote if you don’t mind me asking?

I believe it was 25k including 9 short and 9 long electrodes. I don’t know if they are still running the same deal, but because the nitinol probes were still in the approval process with unknown eta, we got stainless steel probes until we get nitinol then we get to keep the ss probes too, so 2 for the price of 1. Also, 3 year no-interest financing.

The stainless steel r terrible. Literally last 1 year

The new Medtronic was quoted around $25k as well and there should be a new Neurotherm/st.jude/Abbott machine coming out as well.
If you do any stim, all of these companies will “give” you a free generator for doing a certain amount of cases or even using a certain amount of needles.
Rumor is there will be a new code for cooled rfa and higher reimbursement in 2020 since the kit costs more. Again just rumor.
