anybody notice how when you apply to Northwestern, it has two options--

PGY1 (categorical)
PGY2 (prelim)

Does this make sense? Does it mean to say advanced instead of prelim?

apply to both.

the PMR dept can only take a few of the prelim positions.

i don't get it. what if i don't want to do prelim there, and just to PGY2-4 there (i'm planning to do prelim in baltimore)... which do i click? the options are confusing

Apply to both. Interview. When it comes time to rank, you'll know if you want to maximize your chances of ranking both, but you won't have to.

The "categorical" is: PGY-1 year at Northwestern (RIC), PGY-2 through 4 is all at RIC.
The "Prelim" is: PGY-1 year wherever you decide to do a prelim year (not at NMH/RIC), PGY-2 through 4 all at RIC.
