This is an article from the New York Times a couple of weeks ago. It's about an orthopedic surgeon who moonlights as a ringside physician for boxing matches. It's not a money thing, he just likes boxing as a sport and is determined to make such a violent thing as safe as it can be. Certainly an interesting side job and a way to give back to something you love.

Side note: This is my orthopedist.

Legit. Can't even imagine the perks of being a doc on staff with the UFC
 
I'm pretty sure there was a thread about this after that article was first released. There was a good discussion in there about becoming a doctor for a sports team, etc.
