Tuition for D1 last year at UIC was $15,132.

This year's D1 tuition was $17,258.

Does UIC raise its tuition by $2,100 EVERY YEAR???

If so, by the time I'm a D4 I'll be paying about $29K
for in state tuition. (i'll be a D1 this fall).

$29K for in-state tuition!!!!!

(D3 and D4 costs an additional $3K more than D1 and D2).

Can someone in-the-know tell me if UIC raises tuition EVERY year, or do they do this every couple of years?

Jone,
I don?t think that UIC raises tuition every year. They are, however, taking smaller classes now, and I?m guessing this is why they were forced to raise tuition. Regardless, it?s still pretty inexpensive when you compare it to all of the private schools.

I?ll be a D1 there next fall as well, and I?m not concerned with the tuition at all. If you are looking for the cheaper route, SIU would definitely be the way to go.

Jone,

If I remember correctly, I think Ann Shorrock told my interview group that it would probably be raised about 5% per year while we would be in school. 04-08. I know they are trying to make positive changes to the program and it costs money. That along with less state funding each year causes this.

Shizzle may be able to confirm the 5% bit. Let's see if he sees this.

openwyd,

Ouch 5% every year, I must have missed that one. Did you get in to UIC??

I heard 5% for next year, but I am unsure if it would increase during our 4 years. It will def. be a little more next year though.

Never the less, it's still a good deal tuition wise.

Yeah openwyd is right, 5% is what the raise is for next years tuition, but for the years beyond that they don't know yet. Ann Sharrock did say that we shouldn't be surprised if tuition does get raised beyond next year.

Anyways, its not the schools fault its the state's. UIC's dental school only follows the trend of UIC's undergrad which has experienced tuition hikes for a couple of years now due to the state's need for more money.

Zurich,

I got waitlisted at UIC. I really couldn't believe it. They gave me a pretty good feeling that I would get accepted. Who knows. I will probably go to SIU unless UNC accepts me in the second half of there class. I'm still hoping. I will be happy with both though.

I think Shizzle may be right. 5% for next year and she said that she would not be surprised if it would continue to go up each year thereafter.

Mind sharing or ming me what your stats were

Hey guys,

I just interviewed last week and Ann told us to expect an 8% increase.

I thought UIC had a really nice program. They really seem to be moving in the right direction for the future and everyone was real friendly.

How long after your interview did you hear back from them? Do they particpiate in Infosource?

anyone heard back yet that has interviewed in january?

8% is correct, it is the official tuition hike for next year.

D1/D2 tuition will be about $18,600 this upcoming year.
D2/D4 will be about $22,591.

I can't believe just 4 years ago tuition was only $12K...
