Rite aid, cvs, walgreens?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Say you got a job offer with all three-rite aid, cvs, and walgreens.
Which company would you work for? And why?

CVS for now because there's a merger with RA and WAG...so your position is less certain in the next year or so

Wag, so you don't need to relearn computer later. Pick the lesser evil of the 2.

You are ground lvl peons, you position is certain. They can't get rid of manager or staff, district managers, anything above that (vp and up) you have a possibility of getting laid off after merger.

Intel from higher ups saying Wags will actually be implementing Rite Aids computer system (Nexgen) eventually once the merger finalizes.

Really? Anecedotal but I felt the RiteAid computer system was much less efficient compared to WAGs (a lot of grabbing the product before scanning to print a label - waste of time). And people I've known working at WAGS have boasted pushing 400-500 scripts/day compared to less at RiteAid.

This is from a Kroger guy where our POS is still separate from the dispensing software (requiring two time consuming set of steps). If we did that much with our computer system, our heads would be unscrewed.

Maybe, you have a dumb ass intel, Walgreen has 8200 stores in the US, compared to Rite Aid 4500~ stores. When the merger happens, Rite Aid will start converting the store to Wag software eventually, there is no reason to believe they want the other way around to happen. Converting higher number of stores to a new system cost a lot of money.

It probably depends on the specific store and superviser more than the chain. I rotated at Walgreens and despite it being a slow store I didn't really like it as much as the busy CVS I work at.

And that may very well be the case, we'll check back here in the coming months and see. A lot of decisions probably are not finalized either but I can guarantee you this is a running discussion, Wags is changing systems 100%, it might not end of being Rite Aids but they ARE changing systems.

I've been told there is an pretty big update coming not sure if it means changing though. Walgreens has always been known for the best software.

The Walgreens in my area have already gone through a system update

I doubt they will adopt NextGen

And Intercom Plus does have it's own issues. It is glitchy and can crash and processing COBs can be an issue.

Just spoke with our Healthcare Supervisor today and was told that Walgreens will adopt the Alliance Boots system within the next few years.

I could care less about what system we use....just don't crash or go into store mode.

I love Walmart's computer system, Connexus, it's just very easy to use and I think having to double verify every order helps a lot with patient safety. But I've always heard Walgreens has the best system. For anyone who's ever used both extensively as a RPH, what are your thoughts?
