FA says Rituximab can be used for ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura), any thoughts about the mech?

It's an immune disorder. Rituximab takes out B cells, thus knocking down the immune system. Simplified, but that's why we use it for a number of autoimmune things

Primary defect in ITP is the production of anti-GpIIbIIIa antibodies. Rituximab inhibits B cells / plasma cells and decreases antibody production.
