I don't go to Upstate, but a friend from college does, and she was part of the rural medicine program and really loved it. I think they also paid for housing while she was doing the rural part and so she saved a lot of money. She was planning to go into FP since the beginning so I'm not quite sure if it's just for people interested in primary care or not.
