I'm 34 with a ADN degree my ultimate goal is to be a MD in PC. Without writing a book I'll say my Husband is 100% behind me and we've weighed the pros and cons.

I've been very lucky in my short 7yr career working in Neuro rehab and now running a Occ. Health clinic in a 500+ employee manufacturing site. I work with 2 great MD's who I have shared my dreams with and they quickly have dismissed the NP route I originally was going to take in favor of "Just go to med school!"

What is my best plan of action? Finish my BSN then work on Pre-Regs? Or just go Pre-med as some of my ADN classes will transfer and get a BS Pre-med?

My gpa is a 3.66. Any advice would be awesome and I'm so happy I found this site!!😀😀😀😀:luck:

I must be getting up in sdn years because this topic is recurrent. What i mean by that is if you use the search function you will find a lot of good conversations that will give you different models of how to do things. Lot's of nurses have done both of your options and have been successful.

To summarize my readings of these discussions. Do whatever option you want and do well in that course of study. Nothing will tank your medical school aspirations like a low gpa. Yours in on target. Keep it up there and higher and the world will be your oyster no matter what option you choose.

Given that premise. It becomes a question of which is more efficient. Biology degrees or what have you are very easy to incorporate the prereq's for medical school. On the other hand the BSN program might be a skip and a jump from your reach. And then you'll do the prereq's. This is program specific and will have to be strategerized on a block to block level. Do your homework.

And without trying to be controversial or conspiratorial, which, it hasn't escaped me, is the perception of some of my sentiments, do not. Do. Not. Talk about your medical school aspirations anywhere within ear shot of your BSN program should that be what you decide to do.

I'll start searching thanks!

You should take the shortest road to your dream. That would probably be finishing up your pre-med requirements and getting some type of BA or BS. The major doesn't matter.
