Hey guys i'm 25 years old Asian. I have been a nurse for almost a year and I don't like nursing anymore. Now I'm considering going back to post graduation to finish up the pre req for med school but I'm scared because it will take me 2 years and 4yrs of med school and another 4 years residency. when I look at the time and money I chicken out. I don't have any undergrad loans/single other hand I have another options is to do business but I love medicine. Sometimes I wish I shouldn't have done nursing and went straight to medical school. Nobody went to college in the states from my family they all got their education back home. I didn't have right direction or mentor who could helped me out when I got out of high school. I deeply regret what I did. being Asian and an male I feel like my family and community don't respect this professional for males. Any suggestion what should I do/ I cant decide what should I do either business or med school?
Thank you please help me out.

I am going to start by responding to the sentence before your last one. If you're going to go into a profession because that is what your community or family respect or like then you do not know yourself. You have to know who you are as a person. Start by doing a soul searching of your self, and stop playing by people's book. In life, you need to have your own chapter and write it as you go along. I am sure you went into nursing by doing this same thing as well, you did not listen to yourself but instead went with what others said or did or have you do. Now you're not happy in your coat or profession. That aside, nursing is a profession just like every other allied health profession like respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and so forth. If you do not like being called a nurse by this time, then you did not know what you were getting yourself into in the first place. So, before going MD route make sure you know what you're getting yourself into not because that's what is respected in your community but because it's what you as a person want. If you're looking at age, then you are not sure yet what you want. To cap it all, I am currently 29, stared taking prereqs post bacc at 26, now applying to med school. Goodluck!

What is it that you don't like about nursing? If you are looking for more prestige or a higher salary, you might think about becoming an APRN or nurse-anesthetist, or other nursing specialist. If floor nursing is boring, you could train for the OR, ICU, or ER. You could also get a degree in healthcare management and become an administrator. All would be easier and less expensive than becoming an MD.
