Does anyone have any advice on what to do with the destroyer roadmaps? I look at them and I am lost. 😱

Flashcards, if you like them...

Reactant and reagent on 1 side... product on other side.

I was in the same shoes bud!! My approach to the roadmaps is know what the regeants do first!. After knowing what reagents do everything else comes together. Learn to write the reactions out too..it will help you understand E2, E1, SN1, and SN2. I believe mastering the roadmaps is key sucess on the reactions part of orgo on the dats!! Good luck studying!!!

I would suggest for anyone trying to do the organic in destroyer to first do those road maps. Then do the organic section. That way you can practice those reactions that you should already know rather then figuring it out 1 by 1.

Just my 2cents.

Also, I would suggest for those of you who have time, to try and do the Exam crackers for organic. It really builds the foundation and then gives you multiple examples of the main points of those subjects.

After reading that, destroyer, and the kaplan organic.. i have yet to score less then a 25 on any practice organic. My kaplan diagnostic put me at like a 12-13 back in may.

Not a lot of razzle dazzle. Understand them and commit them to memory. Whatever it takes...flashcards, writing them out...whatever floats your boat.

What I do thats really helpful and quick is to tear out small pieces of paper and cover up all the products. Then do each road map with only the original molecule and reagent showing. You can knock out all four of the road maps within 30 minutes or so. Do it everyday or everyother day and you'll improve a lot. I wish my ochem professor in college had these ...honestly i think its the best way to learn reactions.

I'm worried that with a different reactant on the DAT I won't know what to do with the reagent. AHhh. I have 10 days until my exam and I am so overwhelmed 🙁

i am confused on the iodoform reaction from the road map. anyone have a link to the mechanism?
