I'm considering getting the atlas, mostly for Step 1 prep, and also so I can know what some of these things that they talk about in the book (porphyria cutanea tarda???) actually look like. To those of you who have taken Step 1, do you think that it would be worthwhile to add it to my book list? I've been trying to keep it real simple with just First Aid, RR Path, and BRS Physiology... might take a quick look at CMMRS (tables) & HY Behavioral, but I don't want to be adding too many books. What do you all think?

I asked the same question sometime earlier and was told that its not necessary. I was advised to go over the pictures in RR and if I feel the need to see more pictures, use webpath.

I cannot speak for how good it is for board prep, but I use it concurrently with my class work since 1/3 of the questions on my school's path exams have images associated with them. I like it quite a bit and the captions are quite nice, but I don't plan on using it during my board prep.
