Just wanted to bump up the thread... Chat at 11 PM tonight! 😎

Hey Jerry...that was so ironic because I just signed on a few minutes ago...taking a break from the research stuff...and was wondering what it meant when someone replied to a thread with "bump"...can you tell i'm new at this?!?...now i know! Hope to hear from everyone at 11pm! Lata, BingGirl

it took me w while to figure it out as well, but bump meas that if you post, the thread automatically goes (is bumped)to the top of the list so more people are likely to see it! hence, "bump."

OK, so the next scheduled chat (for you slackers who didn't show for the last one) is at 11 PM Eastern Standard Time (for you folks not on the east coast 🙂 ).

Hope to see you all there!

Signed,
Shell (I3ingGirl), Kristy (KKfish355), Emmett (DrEmmett), and Jerry (Rocketchao)

Well, time to bring it back up to the land of Page 1!

Anyone else coming to Rochester in the Fall? 😀

I just though I'd fill you guys in on some bad news. About eight weeks ago, Case Western Reserve hired away our Dean, Ed Hundert, who was one of the two primary authors of the Double-Helix Curriculum. We just found out that they also hired our Senior Dean for Medical Education, the other author of the the Double-Helix. The new dean appears to be research focused more than on medical education.

Hi all! I'm UR (undergrad) Class of '02, and I'll be at UR med next year. If you have any q's about the area, let me know!

Hi Ed,

The news is a bit disconcerting...Could you perhaps elaborate on your thoughts about the departure of the Dean and Senior Dean for Medical Education and how it may impact UR..More specifically, do you think there will be any positive/negative consequences on the curriculum or the students? Thanks for posting the news, and I appreciate any feedback about this topic.

When I wrote my previous message, I was a little annoyed at the announcement. In effect, next year UR will have a new Dean of the Medical School and a new Senior Dean for Medical Education. These are the two top positions at the school. I think this has both positive and negitive potential. First, they have been developing the new curriculum for the past eight years. It was a team effort and most of the key people involved are still at Rochester. The "Double-Helix" is really a part of the institution and now most of the work involves tweaking it. This is done by the course directors, all who are still at UR. The Curriculum is great, its a model that is being copied across the nation, so I guess it is a complement that people want to steal our deans.

My real worry is that losing two of the greatest spokepeople for the new curriculum, might have some impact on the institution. They were passionate about UR and what were doing. For them to leave will mean that well lose some of our biggest promoters (perception does mean something). I guess I'm also worried about having two inexperienced people heading the school. I'm probably just overreacting a bit.

Hey Jerry, Michelle, Emmett and everyone else! Sorry I haven't been on AIM lately...I left UM like two weeks ago and the internet at my house in O-town (Orlando) is just about non-existent! (I'm only on now bc everyone is asleep--keepin it on the down low! <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" /> )

Anyways, hope everyone is having a jazzy summer...O-town blows majorly, but it is nice to see the fam and friends!

Hey there Ed...thanks for the info! That was really cool of you to think of us! But when I ready that I was like "Oh no they didn't!" And I heard Dean Hundert was so involved with the students and everything. That really stinks...but like you said maybe, and hopefully, it'll have its pluses! Keep your fingers crossed!

Take care everybody and have a slammin' summer!!!

Bump...Anyone else been accepted lately  ?

hey kids! just wanted to bump this up to let you know that michelle and i are on campus and have been scopin the place out. if anyone wants to get together, we are definitely game. otehrwise, see you guys on sunday!!!
