I have had some rocky semesters, where there have been negative affects on my grades. Is it safe to say that one of my rocky semesters has been due to unruly roommates? roommates who always partied in the room and treated me poorly?
or is that too lame of an excuse? thoughts?

lol lame. there are things called bookstores, coffee shops, empty classrooms, and libraries where you can do your studying.

Whether those reasons are true or not, adcoms and interviewers typically respond poorly to explanations that blame others.

That is why I live alone under a rock.

Lame in every sense of the word. What was the real reason you didn't do well?

The problem with these kinds of excuses is that no matter how valid they may be, getting bad grades with unruly roommates, it does not necessarily follow that without unruly roommates that you would have done well. You've got to kick butt in future semesters to show that when those distractions are removed that you can indeed perform at a high level.

👍

And show that you have the cojones to remove those distractions in the first place.
