If you place prelim programs on your main list (after your derm programs, of course) do you find out what type of program you matched to on Black Monday?

I don't want to get excited (prematurely) just to find out on Match Day that I only got into a prelim program...

Yes, you will be informed if it's a 1-yr position (I forget the exact phrasing but it is available under the FAQs section on the NRMP site)

Edit: conversely, if you apply to categorical programs or other advanced positions, you will not know whether you matched in derm or your backup field on Black Monday

I had the same question and I think that as ASC said you would see 'Congratulations, you have matched to a one year position!' if you only matched prelim

rather than seeing, 'Congratulations, you have matched!' which would mean you've matched both prelim and advanced.

The last option is to see 'Congratulations, you have matched to an advanced position but not a first year position!' if you matched Advanced but need to scramble for prelim...

The FAQ site is here

if applicants' ROLs are due on 2/24, when do programs submit theirs? i'm asking b/c i wonder when would be too late to contact/show interest in my #1 program. thanks

taken from the NRMP website:
"Applicants and programs must certify their rank order lists by 9:00 p.m. eastern time"
so both have the same deadline
