I have seen the term "rolling admissions" being used in a number of threads. Can someone explain what that actually means?

Thanks,

First come first serve...they start accepting people and keep going until they fill the seats. This is why it is important to get your application in early

Excellent summary. It is true that schools can't notify you of acceptance until December 1, but that doesn't mean that they haven't chosen those acceptances well in advance of that!

Many schools have the adcom meet every two weeks or so to determine who to send acceptances to.

thanks for the replies...I was thinking something along those lines but couldnt find a real definition anywhere
