A little misleading. If me and my wife moved to China and had a baby, and then he grew up and moved back to the US, would I really have a Chinese son?

But I agree Mitt should milk it for all it's worth right down to wearing sombreros when he campaigns in Arizona and New Mexico.

Why limit it to NM and AZ? Throw in CA, TX, and basically the 10 most southern states. They will all be >50% hispanic by the time my kid graduates high school. They are slowly reclaiming the land we took from Mexico, and then some.

We didn't take land occupied by Mexicans, there were almost no Mexicans there. American Indians, yes, Mexicans, no.

And Alaska is essentially without people. If another country tried to take that essentially uninhabited land, I suspect there would be some serious response.

Didn't say it was occupied by them, but they laid claim to it. Heck, New Mexico is hardly inhabited by us now.

Actually, I live in NM and trust me, there are plenty of "y'all". Many if not most of the "Hispanics" are descendants of Spaniards so just as Caucasian as "y"all" I am sure. Hispanics (of Spanish/Mexican/SA descent) and Caucasians are about equal.

My point is that Mexicans are not reclaiming the US. They weren't here once and driven out by whitey. They were never here, and only come now for the economy that americans built. Labels on maps during the 15 years or so between Mexican independence and Texas independence have absolutely nothing to do with illegal immigration, no matter what La Raza lies you might hear.

My jocular post is apparently not welcomed on this thread. Shit got serious, fast.

Wasn't California part of Mexico?

Wikipedia seems to agree.

The name California once referred to a large area of North America claimed by Spain that included much of modern-day Southwestern United States and the Baja California peninsula. Beginning in the late 18th century, the area known as Alta California, comprising the California territory north of the Baja Peninsula, was colonized by the Spanish Empire as part of New Spain. In 1821, Alta California became a part of Mexico following its successful war for independence. Shortly after the beginning of the Mexican-American War in 1846, a group of American settlers in Sonoma declared an independent California Republic in Alta California. Though its existence was short-lived, its flag became the precursor for California's current state flag. American victory in the war led to the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, in which Mexico ceded Alta California to the United States. Western areas of Alta California became the state of California, which was admitted as the 31st state on September 9, 1850.

All I'm saying is they aren't reclaiming anything. They're economic immigrants just like everyone else.

Texas and California were parts of Spain for a long time but only briefly parts of Mexico.

I'm just saying they aren't reclaiming anything. They're economic immigrants just like everyone else.
