Taking the DAT in 3 weeks after taking Kaplan online aka starting to get nervous. just looking for opinions on how much leeway i have with my DAT scores.

About me:

Major - Biol concentration in physiology
GPA - 3.88 (3.83 BCP) from a top 50 school as rated by Princeton Review
EC - Pre-Dental Society President
Tutor for two different biol classes
TA for physiology class
In a group that is involved in recruiting HS students and giving tours
Volunteered at a dental clinic in DR
roughly 150 hours shadowing GP and oral surgeon with some assisting
roughly 30 hours of volunteering

my scores from Kaplan practice tests have ranged from:

Bio - 19-22
Gchem - 17-20
Ochem - 17-20
RC - 19-21
QR - 20-22
PAT - 20-27 (Strongly recommend Kaplan for PAT)

lets say I get all of my low ranges, would it be necessary in your opinion to retake? I plan on going to Temple if I am accepted there.

THANK YOU!!!

If you have a chance, I would try to get Crack the DAT PAT to ensure a really good PAT score. Some of my friends just did Kaplan and they ended up with a 19 instead of 22 like me. Reading comprehesion is definitely a lot easier on Kaplan. I would try to practice with SAT reading comp tests or MCAT RC practice tests. There are lots of tone and overall meaning questions on my DAT. Your science scores are fine...I had 17-18's across the board for practice tests and got 19 in bio, 23 in GC, and 22 OC. The only reason why bio was so hard for me was that the physio and histology questions killed my score. FYI, I took physio and histology right after I took the DAT. Also, you seem like a great dental school applicant, but my only concern would be to add in some research into your resume. In addition, more community service hours. Having a variety of community service activities demonstrates to adcoms your willingness to give back to the community, which I would mention in your interview🙂. If you have any questions, PM me. Good luck, get lots of rest, be confident on your DAT test day and you will obtain the scores you want.

Kaplan does wonders. I started out with a 14, 13, and 12 in three sections which shall remain nameless. I ended up with just over a 19 AA and a 19 PAT over all. So just relax, do as many practice exams before hand, use the flashcards, and chill out the night before.

Your stats look AWESOME though I might throw in some extra volunteer hours.

i agree. kaplan's pat sucks. if you purchase crack dat pat a wk before your exam and do one test every day. your pat score should be really high. if you have a chance you could get the destroyer as well and jus go over the answer and questions (don't try to answer them cuz they are really hard) but i think it prepares you to the max and u wont' have any surprised questions on ur exam. i even had couple of very similar questions of the destroyer question come out on the test.

i dont' think you have to worry about research i had no research at ALL. i only shadowed and volunteered at the clinics. and i got 6 interviews with 4 acceptances.

Trust me...don't speculate about your scores on the DAT. I know you worked hard, but no one can honestly tell you will do well on the DAT...hopefully, you do rock it though.
