Anybody have any opinions on Rosalind Franklin U? I can't find this school's ratings. Not sure if this is a good school to go to since nobody knows about it (although their match list seems pretty good).

just like any medical school, all that is gonna really matter in the end is how well you do for yourself. Learn the material and do good on the boards and you are set. I visited Rosalind Franklin recently and they are doing a lot of technological and curriculum enhancements. They have revamped thier anatomy and histology labs recently. They are incorporating more clinical skills in the first two years. Also, they are working on having one hospital affiliation which many people like myself are opposed to since currently RFU students get to rotate through many of the more than 25 advocate hospitals. My brother graduated there a couple of years ago and matched with the neurosurgery residency he wanted. The only complaints that I have heard is that it is not in the city but that doesnt matter since the m3 and m4 are spent in chicago. Also that the small school atmosphere makes it feel like high school, which I have heard many people state about various medical schools so far. I'd suggest looking up as much info as you can find or ask for material or visit the school.

Also, don't forget the name changed fairly recently from Finch University of Health Sciences. Try searching out the ratings under that name if you want a more historical perspective.

Which changed from The Chicago Medical School... 😉

The school of medicine is and has always been called the chicago medical school. It is one of the school including the recently added scholl school of podiatry. the school also has a graduate school and a allied health science school, both of which for the right place can probably be named after you. Orignally, Univerisity of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School, Then Finch University of Health Science/The Chicago Medical School, and Now Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science/The Chicago Medical School. As you can see it is pretty confusing, even to those who seem to speak with some authority.

No need to be nasty about it, is there?

I stand corrected. I based my answer on the fact that my BF is a graduate and all of his materials from the school simply call it Rosalind Franklin - I'm looking at the alumni newsletter right now, matter of fact.

Thank you for clarifying this matter. I shall try to stifle my "authority" somewhat.

thanks for all the feedback. is there anyone here that goes to that school?

I am a fourth year medical student at Rosalind Franklin University. I know for a fact that 7 out of 7 from my class matched in ophthalmology (very hard field to get into). On top of this, they got in at top notch programs, like Northwestern, U of Chicago, and Mayo clinic. Say what you want about the school and the name changes. But, it is a US MD school and the students here match well. Any US medical school is what you make of it. The great thing about my school is the administration is fair (give people second chances if they do bad on somes classes or USMLE Step 1), and we get to rotate through a lot of cool hospitals in downtown Chicago. I have gotten a chance to work with students from the other Chicago MD schools (like Loyola, Northwestern, UIC, and Rush). And trust me, we are on par or better than them in our clinical rotations. Private message me if you want more information. This school is on the rise!
