I would email them.. if you want to know.. I just had emailed them with POST-Interview Status CHeck in the title.. and they got back to me in 12 hours so why not try that first since the phone situation is crazy it seems

I was accepted in the Nov batch with a letter dated Nov 19th but didn't get mailed till Nov 26th. Hope this helps!

Not sure if this has been addressed, but when does their committee meet to give out invites? They are so vague on the phone.

Just got an email about being put into a smaller pile for a possible interview

What will be a proper way to ask for updates after becoming complete for over 2 months now?

New week...so I'm going to ask the question again...

Anyone know when the admissions committee meets in December? I interviewed the week after Thanksgiving and am wondering if I may hear something before the end of the year.

i interviewed right before thanksgiving and i still havn't heard anything. i think they told us that their committee meetings take place once a month but they keep the actual date confidential...

Don't want to burst your bubble but that sounds like a pre-interview hold to me. I got same email 2 months ago. Still no word from Rosalind yet.
Oh, Rosalind, pls show me some love!

That's nothing. I interviewed at RFU on the second week of October and still heard nothing from them to this date. I've completely given up on an acceptance...*sigh* I am just mentally preparing myself for a big fat rejection soon. 🙁

Me too no word since 10/5... which sucks cause it was one of those interviews (at least my second one) which he was all excited about me going there and such.. I did a status check and was told I was neither accepted nor rejected and that I'd be rereviewed at the November meeting.. since I didn't hear anything then I'd assume they just did nothing either way also.. So perhaps you're in the same pile as me.. which blows.. anyways.. my interviewer said that sometimes it takes awhile and that even if you aren't accepted outright it may be till March when we do get accepted because they have to fill their class.. I dunno if anyone else has heard similiar or different but any info is appreciated.

I am a first year medical student here at CMS and I thought I would come back to good old SDN to possibly offer up some advice to applicants as others did for me last year. I want to start off by saying that CMS is a wonderful school and I am thrilled to be going here. Much of what I am reading on here is regarding the waiting periods which are unfortunately inevitable. As was mentioned previously, there are something like 10-13k applicants which means tons of paperwork. The best thing you can do is be patient (I know this is hard), keep them up to date with any changes (publications, grades, volunteerism, etc.) and stay organized. Realize that it is only December and there are still interviews held every week up through May. Also, many people worry about late interviews but I personally have some friends here that interviewed in April and are current students. As far as my opinion on the school it is probably evident but this school is amazing. The reason there is not a bigger name for CMS is that we don't have a research hospital. What we do have is one of the strongest clinical programs in the country. The majority of medical schools don't teach in depth physical exams until late first year or second year. We have all had to pass a 110 point physical exam on a standardized patient before the end of the second quarter. We also have some amazing affiliated hospitals in Chicago which is where our rotations will be. As far as the name change that was mentioned it is in fact because the curriculum has undergone extensive remodeling and the visions/goals/objectives of the school have changed. To clarify, there is NO probation issue as I have seen thrown around on these boards. If someone chooses not to come to this school based on that myth it would be a true loss for them. Many people ask so I will tell you up front that I turned down other acceptances to MD schools and don't have any regrets at all. My advice to all of you is to keep an open mind and make judgements for yourself about the different schools. Everyone has a different take on each school and what they want from them, so as you go through the process just ask yourself if you can see spending the next four years at each school and follow your gut. Lastly, although this site is addicting and on rare occasions informative try to take what others say lightly because chances are that people are taking long shot guesses on things that they really don't know. Good luck to all of you!

what's this about?

It's about me being fixated on the snail mail these days. I haven't waited very long after my interview, 3 weeks, but I'm so anxious to find out if I've been accepted that I created an account on sdn and joined a thread about it.

If I were you, I'd blame the adcom, not the USPS. Snail mail takes days but not weeks and definitely not months.

BUMP...

I think this gonna be our week, good luck everyone :luck:

Anyone know if the admissions committee has met this month?

After Friday I'll be out of town for 2 weeks so the whole time I'm on vacation I'm going to be wondering if I have a letter from Rosalind Franklin in my mailbox!

If accepted, how long do you have to accept and send in the deposit to hold your spot?

Don't get me wrong, RFU is a good school and I'd be very lucky to get in, but the "rumor" is not wrong. Here's the proof.

The following was an email sent by Dean Ross to all University faculty, students, and staff on June 16, 2005.

Dear Friends & Colleagues:
We have been informed by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) that they have voted to remove our probationary status, effective immediately.
They will return in about a year to assess our ongoing progress and accomplishments.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my very most sincere and grateful thanks to the many dedicated people who worked so hard to allow us to realize our goal of meeting the LCME’s accreditation challenge. Special thanks are, of course, due Dr. Welch for his trust & confidence in our team as well as for his unfailing support and enthusiasm for the work.
Please join me in viewing the LCME’s determination as not the end of a journey but, instead, as the point of departure on our road to many fulfilling achievements which will serve as enduring sources of genuine institutional pride.

So perhaps you're in the same pile as me..

Perhaps. I emailed the adcom and they told me that they haven't made a decision on me and that I'm still being reviewed in December. They really didn't want to tell me "when" they're meeting in December, but this long wait is killing me~. I wish you luck! :luck:

I've heard a couple of ridiculous rumors about Rosalind Franklin being put on probation. My friend adamantly believes that RFU let its cadavers rot and lost the privilege to use them (instead having to use computers in place of an anatomy lab). When I asked a med student/tour guide for the real reason why, she told me that the school was put on probation after board members embezzled money. The probationary status was not academically related, and it was quickly lifted.

What really matters is that they are not on probation and have demonstrated that they are a good school with their step 1 & 2 scores, match list, and technology. I would email them for some kind of status update, but one of their admissions administrators emphatically told my group of interviewees to not contact them and just be patient. My fingers are crossed for this week. Good luck everyone! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Has anyone that interviewed in late october heard back from RFU yet? I interviewed on Oct 30 and still have not heard anything from RFU!

I interviewed late October and was accepted two weeks ago. I declined my spot. You should hear from them soon. Good luck!

How did you find out about your acceptance? through snail mail?

regarding the probationary status... when i interviewed there, i asked a lot of questions about it. apparently, it happened because of an embezzlement scandal - not because of the med school's credentials.

I got my interview invitation yesterday!!!! 🙂

Anyone know if they have held their December meeting to review those that have interviewed?

Thank you 🙂

I was complete on October 23rd.
And I was notified yesterday through e-mail.

They gave me four available dates to choose from and said you could e-mail or call them to let them know which date you would like.

Did you get the "pre-screening" email?

Got my acceptance letter today! Interviewed late Nov. Good luck everyone.

i got mine today as well! and i interviewed in mid November.

Did you get the "pre-screening" email?

Ummm I don't believe so. I received an e-mail soon after I submitted my secondary to tell me I was complete, but nothing since then until my interview invitation.

I thought that the pre-screening email was a hold...that they have reviewed your file once, dont quite want to interview you yet, but also dont want to reject you yet. I am STILL waiting, had everything sent to them in July but they didnt mark me as complete until OCTOBER!! Gargh, so much for getting it in early. Has anyone complete that late heard back yet?

For those of you accepted can you please post your stats?

After you are interviewed, can the adcom outright reject you if they don't like your file? Or will they continue to review all files until their class is filled?
