How are you doing guys. I have got a question to pose to current or former students. Being a non- US citizen(canada) but living in the states would you guys prefer ROss or Saba if money was NOT a factor. I mean Ross has more hospital affiliations more residency placments(well since more students) and takes u back to the states on the fitfth semester with clinical exposure. Bad side is class size and from what i hear the clinical rotations but i have heard from students that this problem is overrated.... its not that bad as people complain it to be. Well now saba well it has small class size but not many hospitals affiliations. Secondly it has some matches in canada but than again so would ross but they dont state that on their website but i know they have some students from ross here. Both have good reputation but i cant decide which is a better option. Please guys give me your input. Please Please.

Bear in mind I've never been to either school - but if look at the photo galleries on each website, Ross is plugged in with a ton of technological resources; interactive classrooms, wireless, intraweb, huge labs, prosthetic dummies and tons of equipment. Saba looks like it has slightly less than the average community college. That makes a huge difference to me. But I wager you'll get more attention from your teachers at Saba. What matters most to you? I guess I'm just begging your question.

I don't think Saba requires the MCAT; I don't know if that necessarily makes it easier for you as a non-US citizen (I don't know Ross policy on the Canadian equivalent).

It's true that SABA is not technologically savvy as ROSS. But it gets the job done. You gotta look at the other side also, SABA is a smaller school than ROSS, less tuition than ROSS, therefore, you can imagine they can't afford to have high tech stuff like ROSS. They do have internet on campus though. So you can bring your laptop to campus and work on it. The pics you see on saba website on class rooms and stuff...some of the pics are really old like when the school started out they had class rooms in Winwardside (a location away from the current campus location) and they were never changed. There is nothing impressive about the campus. It's a tiny campus. Hec* it's smaller than my high school...haha. The Hill side dorm is a nice place to live in though for first sem. The other dorm is okay but not as nice as the Hillside dorm. There is construction going on for a new building on campus with high tech stuff, hence, they are increasing the incoming class to 75 students/sem. Which should be nice. if you like small classes with good prof to student ratio...you might like saba. The island of saba is safe also...i never had any problem while i was there. The clinical dept has been good so far...i didn't have any problem with them as far as getting rotations. The ppl are nice in the office....they don't ignore you. As I said before, although saba is not a tecnologically savvy school but it gets the job done.

I have never been to Ross so can't tell you much except that I've rotated with a few Ross students, and some said they didn't like the clinical dept of Ross because they were so disorganized. But I can't tell what's happening currently.

Both are good schools. They'll both get the job done. So, you gotta do your own research and find out which school is right for you. Hope my info helps a bit on your decision making. Good Kuck!

I prefer Saba way cheaper, same education and approved in all 50 states. Ross will also do the same job, ross has way more graduates than saba. Any way, both will make you an MD if you work hard.

Thanks.

I was actually considering Ross but changed my mind, I am hoping to get into Saba which I think is a good value, seems to have consistent USMLE preparation and their match list is pretty good for an offshore school. Looking for info, I heard Ross has a very high attrition rate, Saba is supposed to be very low, I have not confirmed this yet. Saba is 5 square miles in area, Dominica where Ross is located is 290 square miles. Saba is part of the Netherlands Antilles along with St. Maarten, Curacao, and Sint Eustasias.

Yeah, I heard some complains 2. High attrition, Expensive Ross has federal loans(but you will require private loans for sure, because Ross will eat up your fed loans fast and then still hungry for more), Crime is also high. But with all said, I must say if you work hard you can become a doc from Ross too.

Let's not forget Saba has some problems as well. One of the private loan company just pulled out from SABA, they don't have any fed loans for US students.

Like I said previously, If I've to choose b/w these the two, then saba will be my choice. Good luck

Visit the schools and then make up your mind. Talk to people on campus, see if you can sit in on lectures, spend some time on the island to see the "reality" of the the Caribbean.

Its harder to get financial aid for Saba because their primary lender backed out.
