so heres my dilemma, i just started 4th year and im doing a cardio elective. im not going into cardio or medicine but i figured it would be a great rotation to learn how to better handle cardio patients and their associated pathology. anyways, the rotation has been great- attendings teach a ton, good lectures and case presentations, and a good learning atmosphere all around with good patients to learn from.
my issue is that every day at around 2pm, my resident that i follow tells me to "go home, there is nothing else left for me to do". she thanks me over and over and always tells me how helpful and what a good knowledge base i have. there are no signout rounds specifically for cardio (most of the attendings are at their offices in the afternoon and only come back over to the hospital if there is a serious issue that they are needed for). i feel guilty leaving so early though. my entire 3rd year, i left the hospital at 5 at the earliest. am i just feeling guilty bc of my past experiences or am i doing something wrong? maybe it is just in my head but i was hoping to ask for a letter of recommendation from this rotation and kinda feel like i dont deserve it since im out early each day. any opinions or anyone have any similar experiences?
