I am looking to go into the medical field and will be applying to the Army IPAP at Fort Sam Houston, TX as well as the Army-Baylor PT Program next year. I am a hands on person and love to work with people and could easily see myself as a physical therapist or a PA performing surgery. What are the pros and cons of both careers? Which education pathway would be most fulfilling in your opinion and why?
Background: ROTC student at NCSU, 2 years served in National Guard at a Medical Detachment, Air Assault School, Biological Science Major, Cum. GPA: 3.35 Science GPA: 3.0, 50 hours volunteer work in Pre/post surgery environment, ~400 hours shadowing PA, Nurse, and Medics, GRE: N/A (Need to take still). I am a Junior with 3 semester left till I graduate and most of my core science classes are this year and the next.
When should I begin the process of applying to PT and PA school? What are some more things I can do to stand out among other applicants? Thanks
