Hi all,
I have another albeit minor question about the never ending prep for grad school.
About GPAs, when it comes to rounding off, is a 3.356 just as good as or equal to a 3.4? Or do the schools see your 3.356 as a '3.356'?

I ask cos they say the competitive schools favor a 3.5 and up and I want to see how close I am 😕

My applications usually asked for GPA to the nearest hundredth (e.g. 3.36).

Another GPA question: Are GPA's calculated based on all courses taken? I have 2 courses that I've taken at other colleges and universities (not dual enrollment). Will schools bother to recalculate my GPA with those courses included?

wow... you guys have 3 decimal places for gpa. 😀 eek

Schools will generally explain how they want you to figure your GPA, and in my experience (as someone who had transcripts from several schools) they all differ. Some want your cumulative GPA, which means not only including all your classes from everywhere, but calculating credit hours (some schools have 4 credit classes, some 3) to multiply by the grades for each class in calculating it. Some want just your GPA from your degree granting institution and only that transcript. Some only want your last two years GPA. Some want your cumulative, your last two years and your psych GPA. Filling out apps is so much fun...

Wow, thanks a lot you guys. That clears some stuff up. I also forgot that they usually focus on last 2 years GPA. That being said, I'm doing great so far! 🙂

last 2 years can be = last 60 credits. I remember being really glad about that b/c I was taking so many classes it only incompassed my last 3 semesters, not a full 2 years.

Unless otherwise stated, always report GPA to two decimal places: 3.36

Resist the temptation to play with the numbers to make yourself look better.
You wouldn't round a 3.34 down to a 3.3, so don't round a 3.35 up to a 3.4.
