I've decided to apply to an OMFS program after graduating (current dental student), but my rank is not good enough to get an acceptance right out. Because of this, I'm planning on doing an internship - any input on which would be the best route to do so?
I'm currently thinking of doing the following: increasing my rank as best as I can over this next year or so, doing an AEGD/GPR while I study for the NBME, then doing an internship. I figure this gives me the best chance to getting in by improving my rank, do well on the NBME (while also staying in an academic setting - I've heard that program directors don't like private practice - not sure if this matters when applying for an internship?), and then making a good impression during my internship. Thoughts would be appreciated!
