IMG here. I'm a training subspecialist and looking to move to Canada once I've finished my training.

Was wondering what's the difference between Royal College exam for GIM and IM? Do employers see them as the same thing? From what I understand GIM is like a subspecialty of IM.... I'm not looking to do IM/GIM in the long run but thought having it may help my transition.

It looks like you cannot sit in GIM exam unless you do GIM fellowship, which is exclusively in Canada.

I am ABIM certified and I was deem eligible to sit in the Royal College IM exam next spring.

I don’t think employer cares that much because I already secure a GIM job without a GIM fellowship.

Hope this helps
